We had a few mini-crises in October, but with concerted effort among teachers and staff, there was no damage.  Aside from that, we invented ECA afternoons whereby a few school teams or clubs had activities in one afternoon per week in lieu of online lessons, in addition to regular SU/House competitions.

Let me tell you, these activities were very messy: lunch, attendance, event clashes, technical problems, and the like. Don’t get me wrong, they were good mess that put smiles on people’s faces.  They were like mess babies made by playing with food, and still managed to give you a smile to show off the mess, that you feel happy and blessed seeing the one-hour-to-clean-up mess. No no, our level of achievement has not been compromised; our level of appreciation and student effort remains high all the same. Not only did the participants in all competitions do their best, encouraged each other when a shot was missed, and still managed to go home for necessary online lessons, but also the support of audience who spent a few minutes here and there to cheer for the participants, not to mention the preparation and clean up teachers made before and after each event.  I said “blessed” earlier, it is indeed a blessing on the school which has such caring and dutiful students and teachers who learn and grow together.  I hope the full-day lessons will be reinstated soon, so that more student leader empowerment can be seen.

It is still a bit early to mark the end of a school term, but November will see teachers preparing for the first term exam papers, to get students ready for all necessary knowledge for the first term in the 3-school-week December before Christmas holidays, which followed by a 2-week exam period before the 12-day Chinese New Year which leads us into February. So you see, time flies and we need to be good, be happy, and enjoy learning and progress every waking moment of our life: carpe diem.
