Secondary One

Performing: Compulsory instrumental classes (4 – 8 students per group) during regular music lessons. Two assessments including individual performing tasks and group ensemble works. Instrument choices in the previous years: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Clarinet, Erhu, Dizi, Pipa and Zheng.

1. Music in Asia – Chinese Music, Indonesian Gamelan, Japanese Gagaku and Indian Raga
 
2. American Pop Music – Blues and Jazz Music, Rock Music, Latin Music

Secondary Three (Elective class, 10 – 12 lessons)

1. Film Music and Video game Music
i. Composing tasks using music production software (e.g. logic pro, Sibelius and garage band)
ii. Introduction of Music production industry
 
2. Pop Music
i. Lyrics and song words
ii. Idea of hooks and riffs
iii. Popular song structure
